Black bear on prowl captured in Bandipora village

Panic gripped in Kuil Muqam village of north Kashmir’s Bandipora on Sunday evening after a black bear has entered inside a residential house the area.

Reports reaching GNS said the bear was spotted in Kuil Muqaam village this evening and in the meantime there was a hue and cry in the area following which the wild animal entered inside the residential house.

The animal was on the prowl in Kuil Muqam village and its adjoining areas since last month,” they said.

The incident created the panic in the village as residents moved to the safer places and informed the forest department and police station concerned accordingly, they said.

An official of the wildlife department when contacted told GNS that a team of department along with police reached the spot soon after being informed.

Immediately the animal was tranquillized and was captured later. The animal is being taken to wildlife sanctuary Dachigam, the official added.

The officer said that presence of bear had created the panic in the area, however, with the timely efforts of department along with police has prevented any eventuality in the village. (GNS)
